Welcome to 51ÊÓƵ's Whole School Blog!

Poem

Poet (poem + person)

Hi everyone

How are you all?

We’re at the end of our fifth week and we’re very busy, as you can see below! There’s a huge amount going on, with Harvest Festivals, Resilience Days, Poetry Days and much more besides. There are some great STARS from lessons and therapy, and brilliant personal and physical development things too, as well as good stuff from Makaton, Safeguarding and Wellbeing

Please do look at Eileen’s and Joel’s blogs this week as well as there are some very important things in those – and there are always the rest of the school blog or even the Foundatron one if you still want more

Thanks for all your support, whether it’s coming up here for coffee mornings, talking to Eileen, Aylisha or teachers and therapists, or just supporting us by helping to get your son or daughter into school so we can be with them each day

Have a lovely weekend. It’s warm and sunny as I type this, so hopefully it will be for the next two days as well!!! Yes? Well, hopefully (I’m from Cornwall you know so I’m optimistic about the weather!)

All the best, take care and see you soon

We have 3 Super-Steering Groups which deliver our Key Drivers through our curriculum. The Key Drivers are Communication, Wellbeing and Independence. The Groups are Literacy, Physical Development and Personal Development.

Literacy

Becky, our Literacy Lead, leads a team that improve all aspects of literacy, including this year a lot of handwriting and oracy (it’s OK, she’ll be going into explain all of that) as well as reading, phonics, books and all sorts! Here’s Sarah with the latest on National Poetry Day!

Physical Development

Everything that is fabulous in the world of Physical Development! This includes physio, hydro, MOVE, PE, HI, VI, a lot of OT and all sorts of key areas for us, including all of the Outdoor Learning, John Muir Award and many other aspects. Steph oversees this and will ensure that an aspect is shared in the blog each week. This week: Mary and the Hellens Sensory Motor Suite!

Personal Development

One of the best things about the school and one of the most important for our pupils, PD covers PSHE, Wellbeing, Careers, Social Moral Spiritual & Cultural, Online Safety, Behaviour and similar areas. Jo pulls it all together. Let’s see what Jo and the team have in store for us this week

Wellbeing!

Our school’s Wellbeing Theme for this year is all about ‘Connect’ — and connect is one of the five ways to Wellbeing!

Behaviour for Learning (BfL)

Behaviour for Learning (BfL) is a new team within our school setting, behaviour can overlap with Safeguarding and Mental Health, however, we thought it would be best to have a standalone team that can work along side other teams within the school.

Resilience Day

And here’s Nat again!

Safeguarding Updates – anaphylaxis and other allergies

Aylisha is our Safeguarding Officer, Rebecca is the DSL, and Tracy, Corin round out a great DSL Team, with Carla as well; other colleagues look at other aspects too. For the blog, they give us weekly updates, which cover a range of topics – some of them pretty heavy sometimes! Here’s Rebecca

Makaton Signs of the Week with Julie!

Every Sunday Julie prepares a message for all classes on Makaton signs that are current and relevant to the time of year. I generally reproduce them here so those at home can do the same thing if you want to and if it works for you – or just for you to learn a few signs each week. Hope it works for you!

And finally, this is from Rebecca
